VFR & IFR

CERTIFICATIONS

Instrument Panel

“What’s this about a transponder certification?”

“Do I need one?”

“How often?”

“What if I don’t fly IFR?”

These are typical questions we get weekly.  A brief synopsis follows as to what you need to keep your aircraft legal.

  • Transponder equipped VFR aircraft operating in controlled airspace and all IFR aircraft must have their ATC Transponder (and altitude encoder) inspected and tested within the preceding 24 months.
  • IFR aircraft must also have their static system and altimeters inspected and tested within the preceding 24 months.

For both situations described above:

  • Anytime a transponder system is compromised (component service, replacement, etc) the system must be re-certified prior to return to service.
  • Anytime the static system is compromised (any reason) the static system must be leak checked (minimum) prior to return to service.

Avionics Solutions has the capability to properly perform the test required by the FAA to keep you legal and your aircraft systems functioning properly.
